St Patrick’s Day Cead Mile Failte

No we do not speak Celtic at this  Tyler Tx Bed and Breakfast,  but we still wish you 100,000 welcomes. A little bit of what will be happening in our area the next few days!

Tyler State Park Dogwood Days starts March 14 and runs through March 30th. Activities taking place on Saturdays include knot tying, birding, kids wilderness survival, a wild food hike and SNAKE FEEDING. Sounds like fun to me!!!

On Tuesday, the 26th Annual Taste Of Tyler takes place. You will be very close to the event by staying at The Rosevine Inn. Approximately 25 restaurants will participate with an assortment of culinary delights and beverages, along with entertainment for your enjoyment. Regular admission is $15.00 in advance & $20.00 at the door.

So you are on a diet!!  LORD OF THE DANCE is a mesmerizing blend of traditional and modern Celtic music and dance. The story is based upon mythical Irish folklore as Don Dorcha, Lord of Darkness, challenges the ethereal lord of light, the LORD OF THE DANCE. 

March 18th brings the second Art Walk in Downtown Tyler. It is from 4-8 pm and with daylight savings time in effect, it should be a fun time. Speaking of art-The Tyler Museum of Art is having it’s 6th Annual Hight School Art Exhibition. This annual exhibition showcases the works of graduating seniors from area high schools, providing opportunity and experience for those aspiring to pursue a career in art following graduation.

Beauty & The Beast Bicycle Tour get underway promptly at 8:30 am on March 20th.  Make your reservations now for lodging.

This event brings cyclists together from across the region to enjoy the beauty of East Texas and to conquer the hill we refer to as “The Beast.” Kids’ Rodeo (8:30am) Bicycle Tour (9am, Course closes at 3pm).

Extreme Makeover Comes to Tyler

Extreme Makeover will be here February 25 to knock on the door of a very deserving family. Come to town and see them.  it should be interesting .

The Emmy-award winning reality show on ABC Television, is coming to East Texas to surprise one lucky family with an extreme home makeover. Local builder Bayless Custom Homes has accepted the challenge to construct a new home in just one week for one very deserving family. “When we watch Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, we realize how blessed we all are, and that with God all things are possible. We are humbled and excited to accept this challenge.

However, completing this project will only be possible with the help of many volunteers, vendors, sponsors, and the generosity of the entire community. This is about showing America the heart and soul of East Texas and we challenge everyone to come together to give a few hours of your life to change someone else’s life. Together, we will build a quality home that will show Texas pride with love & compassion, which will resonate with East Texans forever.

There are other things going on here at that time let’s see!!!

First Monday weekend for March actually falls in February. Monday March 1st is Monday-so the weekend before  is   February 26th thru 28th-Make your plans now!!

Now this sounds fun! A Night of Rock and Roll to Benefit Breckenridge Village.

Roll up your jeans, pull out your poodle skirts and shine your loafers as we get ready to go back in time and enjoy the sights, sounds and music of days gone by. On Friday night, February 26, 2010 at 7 pm, Chick-fil-A presents A Night to Remember the 50s & 60s at the KE Bushman’s Celebration Center.

This musical extravaganza is a premier event all in benefit of Breckenridge Village of Tyler. This night promises to be a big success thanks to the support of long time BVT friends, Ed & Sandy King of Chick-fil-A and Pierre deWet of Kiepersol Estates. Breckenridge Village offers programs and services care  adults with mild to moderate developmental disabilites.  It only costs $15.

Chili anyone? There is a cookoff scheduled on Saturday the 27th. Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI)and Half Moon Grill & Saloon host the 3rd Annual Charity Chili Challenge. Held at Half Moon Grill & Saloon. Benefits St. Mary Magdalen Church Youth Group.

Okay how about a Celtic Music Concert-Coming on the 27th in Edom is Beyond The Pales’ eclectic and diverse mix of traditional celtic and contemporary styles is the key to their popularity. They have developed their unique sound by blending their own original songs and compositions with an array of traditional dance tunes and folk songs of Ireland, America Scotland and Europe using a wide range of instruments including fiddle, flute, accordion, guitar, hammered dulcimer, tin whistle, saxophone, harmonica, concertina, mandolin, clarinet, bodhran, percussion and of course the voices of band members. True to their name, Beyond The Pale delivers a wild musical ride outside the boundaries of convention. The concert is at The Old Firehouse at 7: pm.

Just a note -starting March 6th through April 24 is the 4 Winds Renaissance Faire-the 16th Annual-It will be featured in my next blog.  If you miss the Chili Cookoff next weekend-there is another one March 6th The Rose City Cookoff- I will do a short blog about it next week.

With spring around the corner, lots of things to do and see in the area. I see Tyler State Park is having Dogwood Days and the City of Tyler will have its Annual Azalea Trails starting in the middle of March. More on these to come!!


January Doldrums?

No way!! There is always something to do in our area. The best thing to do is stay at our Tyler bed and breakfast. The Rosevine Inn is the perfect place to just relax and read a book or curl with one of the rosevine cats by the fire in the barn.  Now if you want to get out and see something……….

The Tyler Civic Theatre is prensneted “Scandal Point” from Jan 22 thru Jan 31st.

Bill Engvall will be at the Cowan Center on Jan 23rd. He is a blue collar comedian full of wit and humor. Observe****** Just click below for a preview

2010 is here now. We are welcoming in a new decade. What will it bring? Who knows? There are a few things happening in Tyler in the next few weeks.

The East Texas Bridal Extravaganza in January 3rd. If you are getting married any time soon this is the venue for you.

The East Texas Texas Symphony Orchestra will be performing on January 9th at The Cowan Center. Angela Brown will be featured. She is a soprano with great versatility singing tunes from Verdi Arias to Gershwin to spiritual tunes. Concert starts at 7.30.

A quick peek at a few things coming up later in the month. The Scandal Point will be performed at The Tyler Civic Theatre Jan 22 through January 31. Bill Engvall is in Tyler on Jan 23rd. For the kids, Nate the Great Musical is coming to the Cowan Center on Jan. 26th.
