Workshop I

Improv Games & Short-Form, taught by Nikki Pierce
A short-form crash course, giving insight and tips to conquer conducted games, verbal/physical justification games, option games, scenic games, story-telling games, character-based games, victim games and musical games with an emphasis on performance.

Nikki Pierce moved to Chicago to pursue acting and improvisation after performing short-form improv in Kansas City, though she originally hails from the giant state of Texas. She has studied at Piven Theatre, the Acting Studio, and quite possibly every improv theater in the city (the Annoyance, iO, and the Second City – Conservatory, Music Conservatory and Acting), and can regularly be seen performing with the Davenports (an improvised soap opera, which she co-produced), Thirsty (a short-form drinking extravaganza), YMBJ at iO, the ladies of WILL, and SongCo (one of Second City’s Resident House Ensembles). She is more than thrilled to return to East Texas, and would love to thank you for supporting her even though she fled the state. Shout out to Ross and the little mamas for their support and undying love.

Workshop II

Freestyle Rapping, taught by Ross Bryant
Freestyle rapping can be super daunting, but with practice you can start kicking it with confidence and fun. This workshop will focus on improvising and performing rhyming couplets.
Ross Bryant is from coastal North Carolina, and is a graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts and Appalachian State University. Ross traveled the world as a member of Second City’s Touring Company, performs regularly at the iO Theater, and is an ensemble member of the critically-acclaimed shows The Improvised Shakespeare Company and Baby Wants Candy. In the past, you may have seen him performing at ComedySportz Chicago, on a ship in the Mediterranean Sea with Second City, or hosting a comedy rap battle called HATERADE. Recently, he co-wrote the Second City Theatrical production Wildcat on a Hot Tin Roof for Northwestern University. Ross loves his family, friends and Nikki P.
